my rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.
those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.
those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.
It's complicated.
In my case, my mind is so well compartmentalized, that I can see good as well as bad in this same Org. In doing so, I can easily see that the good far outweighs the bad, so I intentionally accentuate the good and this brings me happiness.
It continues to be complicated.

Having expressed my distrust of non-JWs, I also do think crushing kids dreams or just plain fun by not providing extra curricular activities is AWFUL!!!

It worried me that he mentioned at the student had become his 'friend'. An adult man with a child 'friend'?
Keep it professional please. Have heard so many stories of these adults involved in settings that are exclusive to minors and the inappropriate behaviors that may follow.
Not very trusting here.

Bloodless surgery is the best method in many instances.
I read a piece in some New England medical journal some time ago; they praised JWs for their determination which led the medical professionals to research and develop ways to treat them and, in doing so, the surgical field has improved.

its going to be a real beautiful place when its finished.. they are going for quality over quantity.
it used to be accommodation for a few thousand permanent residents, now its looking like less than a thousand permanent with the possibility of a few thousand more in temporary accommodation should the need arise.. some say the plans are going to be like a garden of eden in england :) i mean they had farming in london over the years but this is going to be epic what they are planning for temple farm at chelmsford.. they are planting thousands (literally) of fruit trees, including tropical fruits in huge green houses, huge vines yards and then the same basic farming activities as before.
The WTBTS claims that rather than giving fish, they teach how to fish.
I can honestly say that I have seen people/families improve their quality of life, increase their material possessions, beautify their homes, etc., when they gave up their vices and cleaned up their act by becoming JWs.

today marks 13 years since my wife and i have stepped inside a kingdom hall.
after 29 years full on being a jw and a number of years serving as an elder then as the presiding overseer we pulled the plug.
yes 13 years ago coming home from the first day of a circuit assembly i said to my wife “that’s it i am not going back”.
Congrats.

unbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.
Do more, more, more; could never do enough, ever.

i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.
1972-1975, 1983-1988, 1996-2001, present time fear mongering all over again.
This new great hype means nothing to us old JWs who've lived through previous great hypes. We're not even talking about the nonsense, carrying on with life and ignoring the whole thing altogether.

jws exist because people want an escape from the modern world and are willing to give up intellectual freedom to get it..
Also, because the 'alternative' is not that nice or attractive.
Believe me, I did in my youth try to walk away from this religion, but the awful behavior of non-JWs made me return to what I was accustomed; the "nothing is wrong as long as you're not harming anyone" attitudes and "anything goes/do not judge" way of life... I just couldn't handle it.
Ultimately, do not think I can today either. Here's is comfy and nice, so I'll stay, even with all my opposing views.
